The new Yichang to Zhengwan high-speed rail link line is a project of the national 13th Five-Year Plan, with a total length of 109 km (or 109.38 km according to other theories) and a design speed of 350 km per hour. It starts from Yichang East Railway Station and connects to Zhengwan high-speed rail ‌ through Yiling District and Xingshan County. The project is a major project to implement the development strategy of the Yangtze River Economic Belt and strengthen the railway passenger passage along the river ‌. It is conducive to optimizing the national road network structure, solving the slow speed shortcomings of the existing riverside railway between Yichang and Chongqing, and strengthening the status of Yichang railway hub and the regional central city of the Yangtze River Economic Belt
