The route uses a six-lane, two-way elevated structure and incorporates a bus rapid transit system. It forms part of the “16 horizontal and 12 vertical” arterial road network in the Northern Renewal area and is one of the “three ring roads and sixteen radial routes” serving Chengdu's central urban area. As an important north–south outbound corridor for the northern new town, it links Chenghua, Jinniu and Xindu districts and creates a faster connection between the main urban area and Xindu.
