Urumqi Railway Station

Urumqi Railway Station is a landmark integrated transport hub in Xinjiang and an important transport project on the Silk Road Economic Belt. Construction began in 2012.

After completion, the station building could accommodate 8,000 waiting passengers at one time, with a designed peak daily passenger volume of up to 240,000. The station created one-hour and three-hour transport circles from Urumqi to Korla, Hami, Shihezi, Kuitun and Karamay. Connections with Turpan, Shihezi and other cities strengthened the metropolitan effect around Urumqi and supported economic, tourism and cultural exchange along the Xinjiang railway network.
